Welcome to the world of Womboos! A monster tamer game where you and your Womboos have a more "motherly" bond. 


The game tells the story of Katia, who sets out on a journey while learning more about the creatures that live in this world. A journey full of adventure, many discoveries and challenges along the way as she overcomes her limits!

Yo

Very good game. But I got stuck on the quest for the 10 Snifish. I have them, but nothing happens. Did you use any plugins? If so, you should credit them. Otherwise, it's really good work.

I like:
-The story and the world are very nice. I even find it healthier in some ways than Pokémon in its approach to monster management.
-Character on the right is annoying, "BUT" it's a good idea to reduce its opacity. It's not enough yet, but it's already an effort that deserves to be highlighted compared to other projects that use this same trick. Maybe play with its position on the right or left depending on the side of the map it's located on.
-Prevent changing zones and story progress
-Woomboo dex
-Music
-Logic for Woomboo spawning depending on the map. -Womboos are completely customizable.
-Level design.

Like less:
- The storage system needs optimization.
- The crafting system needs improvement (we don't know if we've successfully crafted a item or not.)
- Automatic capture, then automatic materials rather than asking the player what they want to do. Throughout battles, it's a bit annoying to always choose materials.
- It's difficult to differentiate between certain Womboo sizes. Especially if you want to choose a team with storage.

Advice:
- Regarding storage or crafting items, I recommend freeing yourself from RPG Maker's dialogue functions. What you did with the Wooboo-dex is a good example. However, the sooner you can create your own choice tree, the better you will optimize these aspects of the game. Same thing for a crafting screen. I'm not saying you should have done it for this Jam. 3 Weeks for what I just played is great. I'm telling you this for the continuation of your project or your future projects.

Final point:
Really very well thought out. If it's also done without plugins, it's really very well done. Too bad about this bug that blocks the snifish quest, but it happens. There are some optimization points to make it more enjoyable, but it's more utility than game actions. I would have appreciated full art, but the level design seems well done. You can feel that in many aspects you put yourself in the player's shoes. I had a good time. The only real downside is that I don't like having part of the screen hidden. I'm always afraid of missing something. You've done something to slightly alleviate this discomfort, but I think there's still a bit to be done on that front.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun. I really wanted to know the ending of the story, but I'll wait for the next version. You did a great job, and I thank you for offering us your project. I wish you all the best and say, "Good work."

First of all, thanks for the nice comment and much needed feedback! The game had some content cut due to lack of time, which I intend to fix after the post jam period before working on the sequel. Regarding the snifish bug, in version 0.2 there is a debug event on Dr.L's desk, just interact with it and you should be able to proceed. Regarding the plug-in question, the answer is no, no plug-ins were used, this game is free of any external modifications.

I'm playing the version proposed for the Jam. I'd already seen the comment about debug mode, but it's not in the version I'm playing.

Well done for not using a plugin. You don't need to make any external modifications or plugins to unlock your potential in RPG Maker. I don't know if you're familiar with this, but I'm offering it to you:

This site provides a large number of script calls that can be used directly in the RPG Maker script section without having to modify any of the code. I myself don't use plugins or modify RPG Maker in my games (apart from a skip title when I want to make my own title screen). So I know what you had to go through to make all of your games.

I want to point out that I'm not exactly nice. In any case, that's not why my comments are there. Some of the participants in this jam probably didn't appreciate my comments about their games. You only have what I think you need to go further. If you like it, so much the better; if not, that's life.

Stuck at the snifish quest. I got the 10 materials, but Dr. L just repeat "I wish you good luck on your path". I tried 0.1 and 0.2 verisons, debug doesn't help.

This is strange, version 0.2 should work, as well as the debug event on Dr.L's lab table.

(TIP! Don't just sell stuff. Craft stuff. They're basically rare candies and very useful)

So after playing through the game I was quite surprised. Compared to the other things in the jam there's a considerable amount of "game" here. There's a wide variety of womboos to collect, quite a few battles and some interesting story beats. The art is also top notch! Though if I had to ask for anything it would be a few different angles for said art.

My only complaint/concern is the difficulty. Everything up until the final fight is a cakewalk. I was able to more or less bulldoze my way through everything before that point. Then I needed to stop and grind as well as stock up on potions to get through the final boss. I'm not sure if I'd say other stuff should be harder, or if the final boss should be easier. Ultimately that final fight was my favourite one but bringing the difficulty up elsewhere might be annoying for people. Sigh. No idea what to suggest.

Initially the game was supposed to be more challenging, but I was worried that it might interfere with gameplay during the jam period.

Yeah that's fair. I think the jam will bring in a more casual audience, and while that's fine... it also means you'd get a lot of complaints about the game being too hard from people who might not usually dive into the space or play that many games, or even people who want to play everything and getting stuck on one game in particular might end up being annoying.

I'm stuck at the snifish quest.
I got 10 materials... but the scientist is stuck repeating "good luck on your journey". Wat should i do?

Which version are you playing on? In the most recent one, besides the problem being solved, I also left a debug event on the table in case anyone had problems with the event.

I noticed a glitch where when I take Pineron off my team, I stay at size 2 despite not having any womboos in my team. I can add a small womboo back to my team, but I can't add any size 2 or 3 womboos. I didn't notice this or something similar happening when I took Frogoven or Snifish off my team.

I just checked and was able to confirm the issue, but I may only release an update fixing this later.

Touching the coded door in the volcano base softlocks you if you don't know the code. :3

It's a pretty good game so far but I'm a bit lost right now. I've completed the seceret base in the volcano and went back to speak to the professor lady in town. They said there was a noise but I have no idea where to go now?

After talking to the woman, return to the area where the secret base is located. There should be an indication of a new path to follow nearby. 

Small bug I found: after winning a fight against a womboo you can spam the z/action button to start another encounter without having to walk into a new womboo. I suck at explaining things so that may not have made any sense lol.

This has been known since the testing phase and unfortunately it is a limitation of the maker, I tried several methods to solve this problem, but nothing worked.

wrong entry

Version 0.1 is the latest, just go back to the coastal area and the event will automatically trigger if you have found at least 10 Snifish 

Well I guess on one silver lining, you can at least use it to grind that element

I think that quest to ather 10x Snifish material is bugged - i have 20 samples in inventory but I cant do anything with it. Dr L just says "I wish You good luck on your path"

This bug has already been reported and resolved, just download the new version of the game

The itch.io version is 0.1, which is the latest. Strange... the others who reported this problem said that the problem was solved after downloading version 0.1, I can't say why your case is different. Just to be sure, did you return to the third area of the coastal area and then go to back to Dr.L? 

If the problem persists, you can send the save via discord and I will try to fix it for you.

worked fine after i catched 12 fishes, thanks for help. BTW, this is really nice game with exceptional potential for expansion (huehue)

I noticed a bug: After unlocking the first device and being able to carry 1 medium/2 smalls, i bugged out the capacity and she went straight to size 4 (which i assume is only intended after beating the final boss). Its nothing serious, though perhaps fix it to prevent spoilers for how big she will get :)

I honestly don't know why this happens, the event should block any attempt to put in more Wmoboos than it should, fortunately there is still time to fix it before the jam submission deadline ends. 

played through it, was fun, though there's one typo I found, Leaflick's Leaf storm says it does fire damage, when I imagine it'd do grass damage.

Also I can't progress past the costal zone, I collected the 10 Snifish materials but the doctor just says "I wish you good luck on your path" when I talk to her.

Strange, when collecting the materials and going to her, the event should have been activated, but did lights appear flashing in the street passage on the left? 

I tried going through the left street passage, no lights flashing, no map transition.  The only thing odd I can say I did was I came back to her with 11 materials instead of exactly 10. But I tried selling the singular material and walking back in the lab, no luck. I'll keep trying odd things to see if something works.

I just checked the event and it should be working perfectly, but I will continue testing to find out the problem.
